Unable to network scan using SMB protocol from Xerox WorkCentre’s 5000/7000 series to a Windows 2012 server. Files with a .lck extension get created in the target folder.
According to Xerox discussion forums the WorkCentre’s do not support SMB v. 3.0. This is validated by configuring the same setup on a Windows 2008 server and the file saves to the shared folder without issue. According to Microsoft documentation the client should negotiate with the server to transport on the version supported by the client: http://blogs.technet.com/b/josebda/archive/2012/06/06/windows-server-2012-which-version-of-the-smb-protocol-smb-1-0-smb-2-0-smb-2-1-or-smb-3-0-you-are-using-on-your-file-server.aspx. So it seems the problem is that the Xerox’s don’t properly negotiate the protocol.
Strangely this does not appear to be a problem on WorkCentre 4000 series machines and they are not having any issue saving to the 2012 server.
