Excel Compare Two Columns

This is my new favorite Excel formula.

Scenario: Compare two columns to find which values match.

In column 3 use the following formula:

=IF(ISERROR(MATCH(B2,A$2:A$6,0))=FALSE,"MATCH","NOT FOUND")

The formula reads like this, If the match test of search for value in B2 is not found in range A2 through A6 is not FALSE, then set the value to “MATCH”, otherwise, set the value as “NOT FOUND” The result is displayed in the screenshot below. This formula is not matching the value of A2 to B2, it is searching through the whole range.
